Interactive, professional classes designed to “Come Prepared. Leave Confident.”

“We focus on high instructor/student interaction and engagement. Our goal is to help you learn enough that you have confidence to respond to an emergency situation; laugh enough that you stay awake; and practice enough that your hands know how to perform life saving measures.”
Jay DeBell, owner of Kardiá CPR

Public classes have six seats, so your instructor can work with you while you practice.

Jay possesses a profound passion for fostering connections and empowering individuals to acquire essential skills for leading fulfilling and productive lives. With a Master’s degree in Behavioral Health, he has dedicated 36 years to leading and instructing diverse groups. His extensive experience encompasses faith-based church groups, training and recruiting therapeutic foster parents for the State of Oklahoma, and leading mental health groups that focus on understanding diagnoses, coping mechanisms, symptom management, and independent living. Since launching into teaching Basic Life Support (BLS), CPR, and First Aid in 2022, he has successfully certified thousands of individuals. His unwavering commitment lies in equipping you with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills necessary to respond effectively in emergency situations.

Protect yourself and others from potential exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials.

This course is designed for employees whose job responsibilities may involve occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens, including healthcare support personnel, childcare workers, educators, maintenance staff, and other workplace professionals.

Participants learn essential exposure prevention practices, protective measures, safe response procedures, and appropriate incident reporting.

OSHA requires employees covered by its Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030) to receive training upon initial assignment and at least annually thereafter.

The AHA Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens course is designed to support these requirements when combined with employer-provided, workplace-specific instruction. Employers remain responsible for ensuring all applicable OSHA training requirements are met.

HSI CPR, First Aid & BLS Certification Courses

Professional, Hands-On Training Through the Health & Safety Institute (HSI)

Kardiá CPR offers HSI certification courses designed to equip healthcare professionals, workplace employees, and individuals with essential lifesaving skills.

Kardiá CPR is an HSI Approved Training Center.

HSI Basic Life Support (BLS) provides CPR, AED, and emergency response training for healthcare professionals, first responders, and others whose employers or programs accept HSI certification.

HSI First Aid CPR AED prepares participants to recognize and respond to common medical emergencies, cardiac arrest, and injuries. HSI is an approved CPR and First Aid training provider on Oklahoma's CECPD list for childcare professionals.

Important for Healthcare Students: The University of Central Oklahoma and University of Oklahoma nursing programs specifically require American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification. OU's College of Dentistry recommends AHA or American Red Cross BLS.

Before registering, confirm your employer's, school's, or licensing organization's certification requirements to ensure you select the appropriate course.

The Health & Safety Institute (HSI) emergency care training programs are conformant with the 2025 American Heart Association (AHA) Guidelines for CPR and ECC. However, HSI courses are independent certifications and do not issue American Heart Association course completion cards.

Questions people ask before booking

How much is a BLS class?

The American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider course is $60 per participant, or $80 with the required course manual included. The Health & Safety Institute (HSI) BLS course is $70 per participant.

For your convenience, course fees are clearly displayed with each class description and will be confirmed again during the online booking process, allowing you to review the total cost before completing your registration and payment.

Do I get my Card the same day?

Upon successful completion of all required course components, certification cards are typically issued within 24 hours of completing the class.

Card issuance timelines are subject to the processing systems and availability of the applicable certifying organization, including the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), and Health & Safety Institute (HSI). While Kardiá CPR makes every effort to issue certification cards promptly, delays beyond our control may occasionally occur.

How long is a CPR card good for?

Most CPR, AED, First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications issued through the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), and Health & Safety Institute (HSI) are valid for two years. Specific expiration dates may vary by course and certifying organization.

Bloodborne Pathogens training has different requirements. Under OSHA regulation 29 CFR 1910.1030, employers must provide training at least annually for employees covered by the Bloodborne Pathogens Standard. Additional training may be required when changes in job responsibilities or procedures introduce new occupational exposure risks.

Kardiá CPR recommends verifying your certification's expiration date and any additional training requirements established by your employer, licensing board, or regulatory agency.

Which CPR Certification Do I Need for Nursing School?

Most nursing students should select the American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Provider course, which provides Basic Life Support training designed for healthcare professionals.

Oklahoma nursing programs, including the University of Central Oklahoma (UCO) and the University of Oklahoma (OU) College of Nursing, specifically require AHA BLS certification. Other CPR certifications, including Heartsaver and BLS credentials from different providers, may not satisfy these requirements.

Before registering, always verify your school's current certification requirements. Requirements may vary by institution, academic program, or clinical training facility.

Kardiá CPR offers AHA BLS Provider certification and renewal courses to help nursing students meet their program's training requirements.

Which CPR Certification Do I Need for Dental School?

Dental and dental hygiene students generally need Basic Life Support (BLS) certification designed for healthcare professionals to meet their educational and clinical training requirements.

The University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry recommends either American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) BLS for Healthcare Providers certification. Training must include hands-on skills assessment, and Heartsaver CPR certification alone does not satisfy the college's requirements.

Students must maintain current BLS certification throughout their educational program, with renewal typically required every two years.

Before registering, verify your school's specific certification requirements, as accepted providers and training standards may vary by institution.

Kardiá CPR offers hands-on BLS certification and renewal courses to help dental and dental hygiene students meet their training requirements.

Can I Receive Continuing Education (CE/CME) Credits for My CPR or BLS Training?

Certain American Heart Association (AHA) courses qualify for Continuing Education (CE) or Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits, depending on the course, training format, and participant's profession.

Kardiá CPR does not independently award CE/CME credits. Eligible credits are administered through the American Heart Association and its applicable accreditation processes.

How to Claim Eligible Credits:

  1. Complete Your Training: Successfully complete your course and receive your AHA certification eCard.
  2. Access AHA Atlas: Visit atlas.heart.org and sign in using the email address associated with your eCard.
  3. Claim Available Credits: Navigate to Proof of Completion, access your eCard, and select Claim CE if the option is available. This option may take up to 24 hours after eCard issuance to appear.
  4. Submit Your Information: Complete the required claim form. Eligible credits will be processed according to the applicable accreditation requirements.

Important: Not all courses qualify for CE/CME credit, and acceptance varies by profession and licensing authority. Some online and blended learning courses require credits to be claimed through the AHA's eLearning platform rather than Atlas.

Participants should verify their continuing education requirements with their employer, licensing board, or professional organization before registering.

What CPR and First Aid Certification Do I Need to Work in an Oklahoma Daycare?

Oklahoma child care professionals must complete CPR and First Aid training through providers approved by the Oklahoma Center for Early Childhood Professional Development (CECPD). Approved providers include the American Heart Association (AHA), American Red Cross (ARC), and Health & Safety Institute (HSI).

Training should include age-appropriate CPR and emergency response skills for infants and children. Not all online courses meet Oklahoma's child care licensing requirements, so selecting an approved course with appropriate hands-on training is important.

Kardiá CPR offers the AHA Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED course, designed for daycare employees, childcare providers, preschool staff, and others responsible for the safety of infants and children.

Before registering, confirm your employer's specific requirements and review the current CECPD Approved CPR and First Aid Training List.

BLS or CPR: Which Certification Do I Need?

The appropriate course depends on your profession, educational program, or workplace requirements.

Basic Life Support (BLS) is designed for healthcare professionals, first responders, and students pursuing careers in nursing, dentistry, medicine, and other healthcare fields.

Heartsaver CPR AED is generally appropriate for individuals outside the healthcare profession, including teachers, coaches, office personnel, and other workplace employees. Depending on your responsibilities, additional First Aid training may be required.

Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED is designed for childcare providers and others responsible for the care of infants and children.

Not sure which course to choose? Confirm the required certification, accepted training provider, and course format with your employer, school, or licensing organization before registering.

Is Online CPR Certification Accepted?

Not all online CPR certifications meet employer, educational, or regulatory requirements. OSHA and many healthcare training programs require hands-on skills practice as part of CPR and First Aid training.

Online-only courses without practical skills training may not satisfy these requirements. However, recognized blended learning programs that combine online instruction with an approved hands-on skills assessment can provide valid certification.

Kardiá CPR offers instructor-led, hands-on CPR, AED, First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) training, helping participants develop practical lifesaving skills and meet applicable certification requirements.

Before registering, always confirm that your employer, school, or licensing organization accepts the course and training format you select.

Is HSI CPR Certification Recognized, and Will My Employer Accept It?

Yes. The Health & Safety Institute (HSI) is a nationally recognized training organization offering CPR, AED, First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. HSI training is accepted by numerous employers, regulatory agencies, and professional organizations, including Oklahoma's approved childcare training programs.

However, certification requirements vary by employer, school, and licensing authority. For example, the University of Central Oklahoma and University of Oklahoma nursing programs specifically require American Heart Association (AHA) BLS certification, while OU's College of Dentistry recommends AHA or American Red Cross BLS.

Before registering, confirm which certification provider and course your employer or educational program requires. Kardiá CPR offers both AHA and HSI training options to help you select the appropriate certification.

Which Certification Card Will I Receive?

Upon successful completion of your training, you will receive the certification card corresponding to your selected course.

American Heart Association (AHA): BLS Provider, Heartsaver CPR AED, Heartsaver First Aid, Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED, or Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid CPR AED.

Health & Safety Institute (HSI): Basic Life Support (BLS) or the applicable First Aid CPR AED certification.

Please Note: AHA Heartsaver Bloodborne Pathogens training provides a course completion certificate or participation card rather than a standard CPR certification eCard.

Do You Provide On-Site CPR and First Aid Training for Churches, Daycares, and Businesses?

Yes! Kardiá CPR brings professional, hands-on CPR, AED, First Aid, and Basic Life Support (BLS) training directly to your organization.

We provide convenient group training for churches, childcare centers, schools, medical and dental offices, businesses, and community organizations throughout Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Edmond, Norman, Guthrie, Stillwater, Enid, and Tulsa.

Our on-site training helps minimize travel and workplace disruptions while equipping your team with essential lifesaving skills and certification.

Ready to schedule group training? Click on our Group Training link and we will reach out to you!

Each course description identifies the certification or completion document provided. Before registering, please verify that your selected credential meets your employer's, school's, or licensing organization's requirements.

How Many People Can You Train at Once?

Kardiá CPR limits regularly scheduled public classes to six (6) participants to provide personalized instruction and ample hands-on practice.

For private, on-site group training, we can accommodate up to 12 participants per session, depending on the course, instructor availability, and training requirements.

Have a larger group? We can discuss additional sessions or scheduling arrangements to accommodate your organization's needs.

Contact Kardiá CPR to discuss your group size, training requirements, and scheduling options.

Does OSHA Require CPR and First Aid Training in the Workplace?

OSHA requires employers to ensure prompt access to emergency medical care. Under 29 CFR 1910.151, workplaces without appropriate medical services nearby must have adequately trained First Aid personnel available.

For workplaces where serious injuries are reasonably foreseeable, OSHA generally expects emergency medical assistance to be available within 3 to 4 minutes. While CPR certification is not universally required, certain industries and workplace conditions have additional training requirements.

OSHA also emphasizes hands-on skills training; online-only instruction does not satisfy applicable First Aid and CPR training requirements.

Kardiá CPR offers convenient, on-site CPR, AED, and First Aid training to help businesses prepare employees for emergencies and meet applicable workplace safety requirements.

Contact us to discuss your organization's training needs.

Is the free CPR class in OKC enough for my job?

If your job needs a card, probably not. A 2018 okcfox report on the Oklahoma City Fire Department's free class said it "can't be used for certification." A free class is a good way to learn the basics; for a card, book a certification class.

My CPR card expired. Can I take the class again?

Yes. Renewals join the regular class at the same price, so book the class that matches the card you need.

How old do you have to be to take a CPR class?

13 or older. A parent or guardian books for anyone under 18.

How do I find my card if I lose it?

For an American Heart Association card, use the AHA eCards lookup and enter your first name, last name and email address. For an HSI card, ask Jay through the form below.

What should I wear to a CPR class?

Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. Training includes hands-on activities that may require kneeling on the floor.
